چکیده

ln Bumilleriopsis filiformis, the thylakoid-membrane protein showing the highest turnover in the light has an apparent molecular weight o f 35 kDa. Loss o f this protein after chlor amphenicol treatment leads to a corresponding reduction o f herbicide-binding sites as well as photosystem-II activity (measured by e.g. H20 -» silicom olybdate) and cellular photosynthesis. This correlation is quantitated by comparison o f the amount o f herbicide-binding protein (autoradiography), electron transport, and herbicide binding. An increase o f the binding constant after chloramphenicol treatment is evident.

Overview of Herbicide Mechanisms

Commercial herbicides exhibit many different mechanisms of action. Several enzymes involved in biosynthesis of amino acids are sites of action for herbicides. A large number of different herbicide classes inhibit photosynthesis by binding to the quinone-binding protein, D-1, to prevent photosynthetic electron transfer. Several different types of herbicides apparently cause accumulation of photo...

Novel Small Molecules against Two Binding Sites of Wnt2 Protein as potential Drug Candidates for Colorectal Cancer: A Structure Based Virtual Screening Approach

Wnts are the major ligands responsible for activating Wnt signaling pathway through binding to Frizzled proteins (Fzd) as the receptors. Among these ligands, Wnt2 plays the main role in the tumorigenesis of several human cancers especially colorectal cancer (CRC). Therefore, it can be considered as a potential drug target. The aim of this study was to identify potential drug candidates ...

Studies on Herbicide Binding in Photosystem II Membrane Fragments from Spinach

The mechanism of atrazine binding and its modification by Chelex-100-induced Ca2+ deple tion and proteolytic degradation by trypsin, was analyzed in PS II membrane fragments from spinach. It was found: 1) Chelex-100 treatment leads in a comparatively slow process (/, 2 = 5 — 10 min) to Ca2+ re moval from a site that is characterized by a high affinity as reflected by Ku values of the order of...
